The Total Joint Assessment Clinic (TJAC) is located in the Ambulatory Care Department on level 1 of the hospital (the basement). The clinic is for patients who require specialized hip and knee assessment. It is focused on the evaluation of hip and knee osteoarthritis for possible hip or knee replacement. There are five Hip/Knee Rapid Access Clinics within the Champlain LHIN: Cornwall Community Hospital, Hôpital Montfort, The Ottawa Hospital (Civic campus), Queensway Carleton Hospital, and Pembroke Regional Hospital. You will be contacted to schedule an appointment.
At the clinic, patients will have an assessment performed by a specially trained physiotherapist or nurse who will outline their options. If surgery is not an option, patients will be provided with conservative management advice and their referring doctor will receive a letter outlining the plan of care. If surgery is an option, patients will be referred to a surgeon and scheduled for a consultation.
