Advancing Imaging Technology with an MRI Upgrade
April 17, 2025
Queensway Carleton Hospital has upgraded its MRI unit, bringing the latest technology to patients while also making an environmentally responsible choice.
Instead of a full replacement, QCH retained the existing magnet, which has a 50-year lifespan, and modernized all other components.
This solution provides the benefits of a brand-new MRI at a lower cost and with just one month of downtime, compared to six months for a full replacement. The upgraded unit offers faster scan times, lighter and more comfortable coils, and advanced AI-powered imaging that significantly enhances image quality.
The new MRI is improving both patient experience and diagnostic precision.
This upgrade was made possible by the generosity of donors to the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. Every piece of medical equipment at QCH is purchased through community support. Learn how you can get involved at https://qchfoundation.ca/.
