QCH Launches New Volunteer Role to Support Patients in ED Waiting Room
August 07, 2025
August 7, 2025 - Ottawa, ON - Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH) is excited to announce a new volunteer opportunity that puts you at the heart of the action.
Our Emergency Department Waiting Room Support Volunteer role helps patients and families feel welcome, informed, and supported from the moment they arrive.
If you’re 18 or older, connect easily with people, thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure situations, and can commit to one 4-hour shift each week, we want to hear from you!
Stationed at a desk near triage and registration, volunteers answer quick questions, offer directions, and help visitors feel at ease. By sharing helpful information about hospital services and what to expect, they allow the ED care team to stay focused on patient care.
The Emergency Department can be a stressful place for both patients and the care team. This volunteer role brings a calm, steady presence to the front lines, making a meaningful difference in the patient experience.
