Infection Prevention & Control

The safety of our patients is very important to us. QCH's Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Department has a comprehensive program to identify and reduce the risk of hospital-acquire infections. Through surveillance and education are staff are committed to ensuring we provide a safe and healthy environment for our patients and their families.

IPAC provides education for patients, visitors, Volunteers, hospital staff and Physicians about infectious and communicable diseases. IPAC policies and procedures help to protect and improve the safety of everyone in the hospital.

Hand cleaning:

Protect yourself and others from getting infections by using good hand washing habits: it is very important that you clean your hands often and completely. Wash your hands after using the washroom and before eating. You may also use the alcohol-based liquid/foam hand sanitizers available throughout the hospital.

"Ask me if I've washed my hands": As part of our commitment to hand hygiene,

we encourage you to politely ask healthcare providers if they have cleaned their hands before and after providing care.
