Visiting Hours 

Because of increased volumes due to the
H1N1 virus, visitors will not be allowed in
the Emergency Department. Visitors will
be directed to a special waiting area.
Exceptions include: one visitor will be
allowed with a minor or a frail & elderly
patient or a patient who needs translation
support.

This restriction is necessary to
minimize the potential exposure to the
H1N1 flu virus and to provide necessary
room for patients to sit while waiting to
be seen by a healthcare professional.

In addition, QCH has restricted the
number of visitors to inthe inpatient units
to one at a time for admitted patients.
NO children are allowed to visit at any
time until further notice. Visiting hours
will be strictly
enforced.

Effective immediately, the Childbirth
Centre will now be allowing each patient
in labour to have 2 support people with
them (such as their partner, a family
member, a friend or a Doula). For
infection control reasons, and to ensure
the safety of our patients, it is important
that there is consistency in who is
providing support, and that the
individuals comply with the self-screening
processes to ensure that they are not
experiencing any flu-like symptoms.
As well, we strongly advise that those
who will be providing support to pregnant
women or providing care to infants less
than 6 months of age obtain the H1N1
vaccine.

Limitations to the visiting hours on the Mother
Baby Unit remain unchanged – each patient
may have only one partner/support person
can stay with mom during the post-partum
period. We will continue to monitor the H1N1
activity in the community and respond
accordingly.

Immediate family only. Please keep visits short.

Weekdays 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Weekends 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. & 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Rehabilitation Unit - A4
11:30- a.m. to 2:00 p.m. &  4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
